True Glass. From Saint-Gobain.

May 2011

“True Glass” denotes the Diamond Standard for perfection in glass manufacturing, offered only by Saint-Gobain Glass India. Just like how Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat-weight are the four criteria for judging the worth of a diamond, we at Saint-Gobain have conceptualized the True Glass test to know the true worth of glass, a substance once considered as valuable as a diamond, and still among the most fascinating substances known to man.

The following are the three criteria on which the quality of glass can be judged.

  1. True Clarity
  2. True Thickness
  3. True Colour

True Clarity is defined by the following.

  1. Minimal point defects (bubbles, stones, other foreign bodies)
  2. Whiteness (light transmission)
  3. Distortion free homogeneity (no reams, waves)
  4. Perfectly flat glass face

True Clarity is attained through

  1. Use of pure raw material
  2. Specially equipped system at the Melting stage
  3. Cutting line – scratch minimisation
  4. Stringent quality assurance tests

True Thickness is defined by the following.

Consistency in

  1. Thickness tolerances
  2. Dimensional tolerances (length, width, diagonal)
