Transparence 2008

May 2009

The third edition of Saint-Gobain Glass India's architecture competition, Transparence, closed with an awards ceremony on March 28 in Chennai. Transparence encourages students in architecture and interior design, future specifiers, to use glass in their projects.

The competition is also a special occasion to exchange between students, professional architects and players from the world of industry.

The participants competed on creativity and innovation to rise to the Transparence 2008 challenge: to design MediaPlex, a 225m high media and telecommunications tower. The jury then assessed the candidates, paying special attention to the creative and relevant use of the various types of glass.

The challenge certainly did not scare participants away: the third edition was a real success with 573 proposed projects coming from over 90 Indian universities, i.e. a participation up 200% compared with the previous edition! Over 1200 internauts also followed the awards ceremony as it was broadcast live on the Transparence website.
