Saint-Gobain present ‘Make in India Diaries’ is a brand-new series on CNBC-Awaaz. The show is dedicated to discussions centered on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious initiative of 'Make in India'. As principal sponsor of the series, Saint-Gobain walks the talk and reiterates its commitment of manufacturing locally and exporting globally. On the first episode focussing on the potential, challenges and the road ahead for Make in India, Saint-Gobain Glass India's Managing Director – R. Subramanian, made his presence felt among the eminent panel of speakers.

Speaking on the show, R. Subramanian emphasized on the need for cost-competitiveness, especially in the Energy & Gas space. While the thrust of Make in India was on Exploration, we still import 70% of our energy needs and therefore, renegotiation of long-term international contracts was the need of the hour. He also spoke on how modular skill building programmes, authorization of manufacturing facilities for administering vocational courses, certifications to contract labour that will enable them to upscale in their careers, could all be made possible to enhance the prospects of 'Skill in India'.
