Ansal Essencia is a complex of residential villas coming up on the outskirts of New Delhi. Poised to be one of the largest green residential complexes in India, Ansal Essencia is sprawled across an area of 140 square acres housing 225 plots.
The project has adopted several green practices, both in terms of the building and construction. For a green home, GRIHA 5 Star requirements clearly mandate the requirement of a solar control glass whose SHGC is less than 0.39 and the Visible Light Transmission is greater than 0.28. Keeping in mind the UPVC profiling, the cost factor and the fact that it is a residential building, the builder wanted to go in for a Single Glazing Solution. Hence Saint-Gobain recommended SGG Evo lite Green (ET 450).
Evo is a high performance glass which can be used for single glazing. It is a good solar control glass with excellent light transmission, and therefore ideal as glass for windows, especially the French windows that the green home was designed to have. Thus the residential complex is well protected in summer and at the same time has enough light coming into the building. One can also cut down on electricity cost/air-conditioning and artificial lighting cost in this green building. What’s more, the green shade of the glass adds immense value to the visual aesthetics of the complex.
Says Rakesh Goel, president of Ansal API, “The availability of the glass and serviceability of the Saint-Gobain Team really helped us make this decision. Glass was used extensively for windows, sliding doors, French doors in each of the villas. Each villa used 60 sq mts of glass. Overall, Saint-Gobain supplied 12000 sqmts of glass for this building.”
With unmatched comfort, good lighting and judicious power savings, Ansal Essencia makes for the perfect example of a next generation green home.
