Transparence – 14.0

India' biggest Design Contest for Budding Architects

Every profession brings with it, the opportunity to explore, excel and leave an exemplary mark behind. But with architecture, you can literally leave a mark for posterity! The structures that you create and the buildings that you make continue to live on, bringing a sense of gratification like no other. Imagine being able to play a key role in the progress of villages, towns and cities and contributing to nation building at large! Yes, as an architect, you are not only building structures but architecting the future.

'Transparence' is India' biggest Design Contest for Budding Architects, brought to you by Saint-Gobain and Ethos, an organisation that works towards sensitizing students of architecture and civil engineering to the culture and ethos that their designs would need to respond to. This year marks the 14th edition of the contest and it continues to be one of the most looked forward to events, by students of architecture. Every edition of Transparence brings with it, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to address and architect the need of the hour in the field of design & architecture. The contest presents relevant themes that enable aspiring architects to rise up to the challenges and offer solutions that are future-ready.

The theme for Transparence 14.0 is “RAILPORT - Smart and Future-Ready”. With spaces all around us undergoing a paradigm shift, Railway Stations are no different. The Railport of the future is envisaged to be a hub of not just transport, but a lot more that caters to the social demography. Morever, modernization of railway infrastructure is not just about catering to the present demands, but also about accommodating the projected needs of the future, which will see considerable increase in footfall. The aim of the competition is to design a Railway Station and their precincts that can help users through improved circulation and decrease of conflict areas, thereby making it both effective and efficient.

Transparence 14.0 will be curated by Studio Symbiosis Architects, a multi-disciplinary architectural practice based in Delhi, London and Stuttgart, cofounded by Amit Gupta and Britta Knobel Gupta. With post-graduate degrees from Architectural Association London, they have worked with Zaha Hadid Architects on many award winning projects. Studio Symbiosis has won International Competitions to design Gwalior Railway Station and Bengaluru’s Baiyappanahalli Railway Station and we could not have had better mentors to curate the competition this year.

The journey of Transparence 14.0 will take the students through five stages, commencing from their submission until the Grand Finale, which will see the top two teams from each region (North, South, East, West) battle it out for the National Trophy. Exciting cash awards, a certificate, acclaim from renowned architects, representation as the campus ambassador, the opportunity to take up the theme as a studio project are just a few of the many perks that participants and the college are entitled to, on this huge stage.
