BIM stands for Building Information Modeling and is based on real-time information sharing between all actors involved in a construction project. With BIM, stakeholders can develop, visualize and share the digital model of the future building before it physically takes shape. It also allows you to model the building project dynamically throughout its life cycle, from its design to its renovation or demolition, including its entire operating phase.
BIM makes it possible to organize, design, build and manage the facades of a building.
With BIM, architectural, engineering and construction service providers (AECs) are able to apply an identical approach to their construction and infrastructure projects. The BIM facilitates the emergence of a new way of working: design by bringing in smart objects. Regardless of the number of changes that occur at the concept level - or the authors of these changes - the data remains consistent and coordinated, and they display a higher level of precision among all project stakeholders.
Transversal project teams in the construction and infrastructure industry use these model-based concepts to ensure more efficient collaborative workflows, providing a better view of the project to all stakeholders. As a result, the team is better able to make informed decisions at an earlier stage in the process (planning, design, construction, renovation), when project costs, time and sustainability can evolve significantly.
The models developed by BIM software are intelligent and dynamic because of the integrated relationships and information they contain. In fact, a model is a complex database whose components are able to act and interact with each other.

The product Library houses more than 1300+ combinations of exterior glazing options, which have data on geometric data like Thickness in mm and performance parameters like VLT, SHGC, U value, acoustic data etc., which will be useful information to be part of your BIM model.
The thickness analyser performs basic thickness analysis for glass, calculating the deflection and stress values based on the panel size data that the tool auto detects from the model. The deflection and stress calculations for glass are done as per ASTM E 1300 and AS 1288 calculation methodologies respectively.

After installing the tool, there will be a tab in the Revit’s Ribbon named GlassBIM, which has 2 functionalities – The BIM Glass Product Library and the Thickness Analyser.
