The Verge is a commercial complex from Arihant Foundations & Housing Limited. The project is located along the OMR, at the gateway to Chennai's now famous IT corridor. It is in close proximity to the SEZs and adjacent to another of Arihant's projects – HCL Technopolis.
Spread across 85,000 sq.ft., The Verge comprises 10 floors and a frontage of 260 feet. It has been designed by Natraj & Venkat Architects, Chennai and Window Stein, Chennai is the fabricator. With its distinct design and aesthetic value, the project is a standing example of contemporary, commercial architecture.
Saint-Gobain glass has been extensively used (3500 sqm of glass) across the facade of The Verge. The product mix has been carefully chosen to ensure sustainable glazing with excellent light transmission and thermal insulation. The products that have been used are SGG Nano (Tropica Green), SGG Cool-Lite (Turquoise) and SGG Planitherm (Pristine White).
SGG Nano is a low emissivity, high performance glass belonging to 'Infinity', Saint-Gobain's range of exterior glass solutions. This fourth generation coated glass comes with advanced energy-efficient solar control properties. Ideal for all seasons and glazing orientations, it is manufactured by depositing metal oxides through magnetically enhanced cathodic sputtering that deposits a thin nano layer coating. This is done under vacuum conditions.
SGG Cool-Lite is a second generation glass designed for solar protection. It is manufactured using the advanced Magnetron Sputtering Deposition Technology. This solar control glass is equipped to meet varied aesthetic and performance needs.
SGG Planitherm is an advanced thermal insulation glass that enables substantial reduction in energy consumption by decreasing the need for heating/cooling. With excellent light transmission and low reflection, SGG Planitherm allows maximum light penetration and provides unmatchable clarity in vision - combining crystal clarity with the benefits of a world-class coated glass. It is manufactured by the Magnetron Sputtering technology in a plasma environment. The functional layer–silver, imparts the property of low emissivity (a basic need for excellent thermal insulation) to the product.
The scintillating tri-coloured facade, blends form and function to create a one-of-a-kind experience in architecture. The Verge is an endeavour to create an edifice that has its own identity amongst a slew of commercial buildings in the vicinity. With glazing solutions that are futuristic, here is a building that is truly on the verge of the future.
